The gaming industry is undergoing a significant evolution with the introduction of phygital components that merge physical and digital elements. In this context, Xplored developed an innovative hybrid game, "The Bad Karmas and the Curse of the Zodiac," using the Teburu platform. This system integrates physical game pieces, apps, and digital controllers, creating a new way to play. However, to ensure a smooth and bug-free experience, a rigorous testing process was essential. That’s where UNGUESS comes in.

The Teburu project and the need for thorough testing

Xplored aimed to revolutionize the world of board games by creating Teburu, a platform that seamlessly combines physical and digital components. This solution brought a completely new gaming experience to life, but to ensure maximum enjoyment, it was essential to identify and resolve any technical issues. UNGUESS collaborated with Xplored to conduct thorough testing of the platform, engaging a team of testers who explored various gameplay conditions, hunting for bugs that could compromise the smoothness of the gameplay.

Testing methodology adopted

To ensure a smooth and problem-free gaming experience, we adopted a thorough and structured testing methodology. The process included:

Functional testing: verifying that all features of the Teburu platform operated correctly and met the expected specifications.

Remote multiplayer testing: analyzing the interaction between various users to verify device compatibility and ensure a smooth connection between participants.

Detailed test book: the team followed a manual that provided clear guidance for all testing activities, ensuring a structured and consistent process.

Regression testing and bug fix verification: identified bugs were fixed and re-tested to ensure they didn’t cause regressions or new issues.

Optimization of the gaming experience: during the tests, startup and interaction issues emerged, which were promptly resolved.

Results achieved

The tests conducted ensured a bug-free and defect-free gaming experience:

• 60% of the unique bugs identified were high-priority malfunctions, successfully resolved.
• 72% of the bugs identified were critical for the proper functioning of the game.
• The re-testing process ensured that the fixes were implemented without causing new issues.
• The Teburu platform demonstrated great adaptability and responsiveness in the phygital context, ensuring a smooth gaming experience.
