February 2025 – Founded in Cremona in 2015 within the "Mobile Lab" research center at Politecnico di Milano under the name AppQuality, UNGUESS was Italy’s first platform to leverage crowdtesting methodologies to obtain relevant and actionable feedback from a community of real users. These users, who join the TRYBER online platform and are incentivized through a reward system, test apps, websites, e-commerce services, chatbot interfaces, and other software, interacting directly with products and reporting bugs, malfunctions, and vulnerabilities, thereby enhancing the overall user experience.

Today, with around 100 employees in Italy and abroad and a portfolio of over 250 major clients, including Trenord, Sisal, Sky, Vodafone, and Findomestic, UNGUESS celebrates its 10th anniversary with a revenue growth exceeding +50%, achieving operational break-even. Throughout the new year, the company plans to further strengthen its presence in France and expects to increase group turnover even further compared to 2024.

UNGUESS’s Journey: from 2015 to Today

Following two capital increases in 2020 and 2023—raising a total of approximately 15 million euros—UNGUESS has experienced exponential growth, becoming a leading reference point in European crowdsourcing, further bolstered by the acquisition of Ferpection, a French company specializing in UX research. This acquisition aimed at creating a new European leader in User Experience research and Software Quality markets.

A recent development includes the launch of a new Accessibility division, created in response to the latest Accessibility Legislation coming into effect in Italy starting June 2025. This division adds to the company’s existing business areas: Quality, Experience, and Security.

Statement from CEO Luca Manara

"We proudly celebrate our first 10 years, a milestone made even more significant by achieving operational break-even. This result underscores our ongoing commitment to sustainable growth, innovation, and our ability to adapt to an ever-evolving market. UNGUESS was founded on a bold vision: transforming the way companies interact digitally with their customers. Today, we are an established entity, a go-to partner for cutting-edge solutions in User Experience and Software Quality. Our goal remains unchanged: delivering innovative solutions that create real value for our clients and improve relationships between businesses and consumers. We're excited to write the next 10 years of success with the same passion and determination that have guided us so far."

About UNGUESS

Established in 2015 at the "Mobile Lab" research center of Politecnico di Milano by three former students—Edoardo Vannutelli, Filippo Maria Renga, and Luca Manara, currently the company's CEO—UNGUESS was the first in Italy to utilize crowdtesting methodologies to optimize the quality, security, and user experience of companies’ digital products and services. Among its business lines is UNGUESS Security, a crowdsourced platform consisting of over 500 ethical hackers operating under the company's coordination. In January 2023, UNGUESS completed a capital increase of more than 10 million euros led by Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR through its Fondo Italiano Tecnologia e Crescita (FITEC). Other investors included P101 SGR via its two vehicles—Programma 102 and ITA500 (managed on behalf of Azimut)—Italian Angels for Growth (IAG), Club degli Investitori, and Club Italia Investimenti 2.
